Gathering around Gaza

Do you have an outlet for your feelings about what is happening in Gaza? A place to talk about it? Do you understand what’s happening there and why? Are you aware of the role of the U.S. military and your tax dollars at work there? Do you wish you could do something but you’re not sure how you can help?

Choose a day that works for you from the list below to register. All meetings will happen at:

11:30am Pacific Time / 2:30pm Eastern time / 6:30pm British time / 7:30pm Central European time

(Note: We will always meet at 11:30am Pacific time. The time in your location may change due to daylight savings schedules.)

Tuesday, October 31

Thursday, November 2

New dates will be added based on interest – so let me know if you want to join and what would work with your schedule. Please let me know other ways I might be able to make this gathering more accessible to you.

Together we’ll create a compassionate space to talk freely about what is happening in Gaza right now. You’ll have a chance to hear what others have to say, and then based on that, we’ll spend some time on history/context, how to talk about it with others, or whatever else comes up.

Please try to arrive on time; once we’ve built a shared space together, I’ll close the room. We will meet for 1.5 hours. If it’s a larger group or there is interest, we can meet for up to two hours.

Conflicted feelings, confusion, lack of prior knowledge are all welcome. The only requirement for joining is respect for the dignity and well-being of all people. This is a no-hate space.

For transparency, I have done organizing locally, nationally and internationally in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for self-determination as a Jewish person from the United States for almost 15 years. I wasn’t born with the beliefs that guided that work; I acquired them as a result of Palestinian peers courageously showing me my own blind spots and inconsistencies which I then courageously chose – and choose – to unlearn. (We can do this, people!)
